Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
