Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt prepared to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive issued a restriction on the files to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the result of foul play, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the deaths, public personalities expressed divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing controversial remarks that were broadly criticized by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the detractors last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan characterized the remarks as "shocking" and suggested they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an aide should have acted when the decision to speak on the death was made.
