Space-Based Imagery Depict Iran's Naval Forces and Atomic Facilities Struck by Joint US and Israeli Airstrikes.

Multiple US and Israeli attacks has reportedly destroyed or damaged no fewer than 11 Iranian naval vessels starting the weekend, freshly analyzed orbital imagery demonstrate, with rocket sites and enrichment plants also being targeted.

Pictures of the southerly Konarak naval military port and the Bandar Abbas port installation, which is located on the strategic Hormuz Strait and houses the main command of the Iran's naval force, reveal plumes of smoke rising from several vessels on Monday and Tuesday.

Maritime Forces Incurred Substantial Damage

Among the vessels destroyed was the Makran, the country's biggest warship which had functioned as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Satellite images showed dark plumes emanating from the vessel which had been docked at the Bandar Abbas base.

Analytical reports suggest that no fewer than five ships at Bandar Abbas were "damaged or eliminated". Pictures of the southern part of the harbor reveal smoke rising from the Makran, while additional vessels seem to be harmed, with one of them visibly ablaze.

At Konarak, images show numerous harmed ships, with expert review identifying strikes against a half-dozen warships. Pictures from the start of the week also show that a number of facilities at the base have been destroyed.

"For a long time the Iranian regime has threatened global maritime traffic," the head of US Central Command said. "At present, there is not one vessel from Iran underway in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Sea of Oman, and we will persist."

Some vessels reportedly destroyed may have been concealed in aerial photos by weather conditions or battle damage, or hit in open waters, and have yet to be fully confirmed. Additional information stated that an Iranian vessel was sinking off the coast of Sri Lanka's territorial waters, leading to a rescue operation.

Rocket Bases and Atomic Facilities Hit

The destruction of Iranian missile bases and the hindering of enrichment activities were listed as additional aims of the military strikes. Satellite images also depicted damage at the southern Khorgu and north-western Tabriz missile missile bases, and at the Konarak air air base, where missile storage facilities and fortifications were targeted.

At the Choqa Balk-e drone UAV facility to the west of Kermanshah, extensive damage was observed to storage buildings, bunkers and unmanned aircraft systems.

Damage was also noted at a radar site at the Zahedan airbase airbase in eastern Iran, close to the frontier with neighboring nations.

Perhaps most notably, the latest wave of attacks have apparently targeted sites at Natanz – widely believed to be at the center of Iran's nuclear programme. The UN's atomic energy body commented that the damaged buildings were used for entry to the facility's underground enrichment facility and that "no nuclear fallout" was anticipated.

Broader Fallout and Analysis

Defense experts indicated that the strikes appeared to have "significantly degraded" the Iranian navy's capacity to carry out standard operations using its largest warships. Nevertheless, it was noted that Iran maintains the ability to launch unconventional attacks at sea through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, small submarines and its so-called "clandestine network" of tankers.

The overall scope of the damage caused to Iran's defense facilities is still uncertain, with strikes said to be ongoing. Imagery also reveals extensive damage to the command center of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the capital Tehran.

A significant number of non-military structures also appear to have been struck in the capital city and across the country after the conflict escalated. Casualty figures from local officials suggest that hundreds of civilians may have been lost their lives in the attacks.

With the conflict ongoing, monitoring of space-based data will carry on to document the evolving battlefield picture.
