Triple Most Valuable Player Jokic sustains a 'gut-wrenching' leg setback.
Thrice-crowned NBA MVP Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee while the Denver Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 at the Heat.
The Serbian center injured himself late in the first half following an unintentional collision with teammate Jones.
His teammate landed on the footwear of the MVP, and he promptly fell to the floor clutching his leg.
The veteran player, that leads the league season in boards and dimes, posted a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the game prior to sustaining the problem.
Jokic will have an scan on Tuesday to assess the extent of the problem.
"Immediately, he knew he was hurt," stated Denver head coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Anyone who gets hurt, that's difficult, especially somebody as important as him. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"We will continue as a team. Obviously, at this moment, I'm focused just about him as a person and the disappointment of facing a situation like that."
