Two Men Face Charges Over Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
Two individuals are now facing charges related to a luggage theft where a suspected irritant spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two robbery charges and two counts of using a harmful chemical, authorities have stated.
The charges follow an probe of an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases stolen after getting out of a car park lift, authorities reported.
A young child was one of the people hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to a medical facility and were eventually allowed to go home.
The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and deemed non-terroristic – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
